![]() We think you'd look great doing both in this 1986 El Camino. That's an odd combination, but a welcome one! This El Camino is something you could do some Home Depot hauling with one minute and then take car show cruising the next. What we've got here is a great blend of retro-muscle and utility at the very same time. Lot 43.1 1986 CHEVROLET EL CAMINO SS PICKUP Auction, Scottsdale 2010 Reserve, NO RESERVE Status, Sold Price, 25,300.00Register to View Price Lot, 43.1. The truck rides on some SS-specific (unique to the Monte Carlo and El Camino SS) wheels on top of some retro-cool Mastercraft Avenger G/T RWL tires. This is one El Camino that is fit for both utility and cruising! Options include power steering, power brakes, cruise control, air conditioning, power windows & locks, a factory (working) AM/FM/Cassette stereo, and a nice-sounding dual exhaust system. The interior is even nicer, with vinyl and cloth maroon bench seats and carpeting that matches the black exterior very well. The black paint on this El Camino is very striking, complimented especially through some eye-catching "SS" decals on the doors and tailgate. factory-spec V8 which is backed up to the rear end through a 4-speed automatic transmission on the column. The clean bodywork alone is enough to make you want to take this car home, and there's simply no way you could duplicate this El Camino for anywhere near the asking price. This '86 El Camino is powered by a matching-numbers 305 C.I. Contrasting Rally wheels finish the look with 205/70/14 performance radials so it sits just right. It runs smoothly and starts easily, and between that 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and the 10-bolt with 3.42 gears inside, this El Camino combines the best of both worlds. It's tidy enough with lots of recent service items, including an R134a conversion for the A/C system, and despite being a small block Chevy V8, it's completely stock. It's mostly stock aside from the chrome air cleaner, and in 1986 it was torquey enough to be a real handful on the street when the bed was empty. Heck, this one still offers an original Delco AM/FM/cassette stereo with equalizer, a very cool throwback to your teenage years.īut the real magic of this El Camino is underneath, where the original 305 cubic inch V8 still does its thing. ![]() The T-handle shifter between the seats manages a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission and there are clean, round instruments in the original instrument cluster that look like they belong in a Camaro instead of a truck. The gray upholstery works quite well with the sleek silver bodywork and easily sheds that stodgy 1980s GM image that the Monte Carlo and El Camino seemed to share. This Elky is also loaded with options, including A/C, power windows and locks, cruise control, a tilt wheel, and remote mirrors. The interior offers the same custom "is it stock or not?" vibe, with gray cloth buckets, door panels, and carpets, which still look fantastic. The entire look is one that will have people thinking it should have cost a lot more than it does. The bed doesn't look like it ever had to work for a living, and is as nice as the rest of the car and is now protected by a removable rubber pad, so it can still do a few chores around the house if needed. A custom grille, body-colored bumpers, and a cowl induction style hood scoop give this SS a distinctive profile and a custom rear roll pan out back blends the original taillights with a custom look. ![]() The icy silver paint makes it look sleek and futuristic, and with a mild chin spoiler, it has a long, low look that works rather well. As a lifetime Texas car, it's quite clean, but you will definitely be impressed by the quality of the finish. Let's start with the bodywork, which is laser straight and doesn't look like the beat-up old El Camino your gardener uses to haul tools. It's still quite affordable and represents a massive bang for the buck, but the quality and low mileage make it far more desirable than your average bargain-basement beater. ![]() You can get a pretty good idea of how nice this very impressive 1986 Chevrolet El Camino SS is just from the photos. REALLY NICE & MOSTLY ORIGINAL EL CAMINO, BLACK SS STRIPES, VERY CLEAN CAR! ![]()
